Just back from 25 days in our little campervan 'Up North' and I haven't
been windsurfing since two good days at Fraisthorpe on June 24/25 so I was
keen to get out today. So, after a quick to Felixstowe town centre and Lidl
shop I then headed down to The Fludgers to meet up with two Hurrell’s,
Neil and Craig. Have a nice chat with Linda as wind WSW or maybe even W
with is a fraction cross off here. It is not my favourite venue but the
tide was good until late afternoon and I managed to park, always a problem
here in the summer but at was cloudy so not a beach day.
We went for it in the end all rigging big, I went with 8.5 on the 310,
shortie on I was first on the water just beating Craig sporting his new GPS
watch. I was on the water one and a half hours which was OK but never fully
powered up. I was making two mile runs, even though the sea was smooth I
couldn’t find any speed and gybing the big board was a nightmare:( The
wind was up and down and was switching direction then the last run it went
really light and I ended up several groynes away from the van but upwind!
Back at the van Mag had arrived with a top roll and Mark Smalling had
arrived as well as Ian and Paul.
After lunch, I had a couple of runs but the wind was switching more off and
dropping so backed up, not a bad couple of hours, nice to be on the water
again :)
